Mercedes-Benz is rewriting the rules of electric driving with a revolutionary solar paint that can generate electricity directly from sunlight!
This futuristic tech could boost EV range and reduce the need for traditional charging — all while keeping your ride sleek and stylish.
What makes this solar paint so special?
- Ultra-thin — just 5 microns thick (thinner than a human hair!)
- Covers 11 square meters of the car’s surface
- Can generate enough power for up to 7,456 miles (12,000 km) per year in ideal conditions!
Using advanced nanoparticles, the paint absorbs 94% of sunlight and weighs only 50 grams per square meter, combining efficiency and lightness like never before.
The solar system works even when the car is parked, constantly feeding power into the high-voltage battery or directly powering the vehicle — cutting charging times and boosting sustainability.
Depending on location, the solar paint could cover:
- 62% of daily driving needs in Stuttgart (around 51.5 km/day)
- 100% of daily driving needs in sunny cities like Los Angeles
- Bonus: Excess energy can even be fed back into your home grid through bi-directional charging!
Eco-friendly and cost-effective, the paint is silicon-free, free from rare earth metals, uses non-toxic raw materials, and is fully recyclable — making it a sustainable game-changer.
