In a move that reflects its commitment to expanding its luxury lineup, Mercedes-Benz has officially announced plans to launch a smaller version of its iconic G-Class. This new model will combine the legendary design of the G-Class with cutting-edge technology, offering more customers the chance to experience its signature luxury and off-road performance.
Mercedes teased the announcement with an image featuring a small “g” at the base of a pyramid showcasing various G-Class models, hinting at the upcoming addition to the legendary family.
Expected to retain the boxy, rugged styling of its predecessor, the compact G-Class may be built on Mercedes’ MMA platform, supporting both electric and hybrid powertrains. Reports suggest an all-electric variant with an estimated range of up to 500 km per charge and ultra-fast 800V charging capability.
Production will begin in late 2026 at Mercedes’ factory in Kecskemét, Hungary, with global market availability expected in the first half of 2027. The compact G-Class aims to be a more affordable alternative for adventure seekers, bringing the brand’s premium off-road experience to a wider audience.
